3rd Annual...

YUP... This is the weekend!
We could not enter this year... It is a two person (male & female) competition...
Well, if we would have entered we would have been cheating because there would be 3 of us...2 Males + 1 Female...So instead...We are celebrating the "soon-to-be" new addition to the TONN family!

Today...lots of things go thru my head when I see this WOD... LAST PR in the Snatch was like this in last years OPEN... Sooo, I thought maybe...

#3 ~ OPEN SEASON is upon us...that means get ready for ROWING!!!

WORK!

LOTS of things to work on...
Snatch Balance is not a big strength (of mine for sure)...we definatly do not perform it enough (maybe some warm-up SB's for a while)... I think it is a great "quick hip" exercise, as the idea is to get under by dropping the  hips...

A good technical lift to help your FORM and STABILITY in the Snatch...
HERE is a great explanation of the exercise and how it should be performed (good video as well).

You should be attempting to increase the wt. every minute...if you get to a point where you cannot increase, remain the same or go down.
You need to get those 4 reps EMOM for 10...this is the conditioning portion.

12 Deadlifts + 9 Hang Cleans + 6 Push Jerks

BB Cycling ~ 95# for all 5 Rnds... Impressive, considering he use to only go overhead w/ 75#!

Double Trouble...

This little baby was sneaky... Oz called it right...trying to get to 3 rnds! Was very tough on the quads or glutes, depending what you really utilize in your rowing...

Oz worked up to a heavy Squat Clean...205# and it was easy!
Then I had him try 225# and he just missed it! Getting closer... It is going to happen soon folks!

Back-Off

This is a prescribed back-off week... That is how we make some gains/improvements. Let the body recover, regenerate while working.

Keep the intensity high...be intense...work !!! But do not add volume to this week. Get a good warm-up, cool down in, but do not feel like you should "add" another workout... Just relax. Enjoy the "quick" WOD and work some mobility with the extra time.

I was wiped out and we had a great talk after about how we were partitioning thru the exercises... E was way better, obviously. I thought I might be able to catch him after the 2nd round...I got closer to him in round 3 & 4 then just got blown away in round 5... He got on rower when I still had 20 Push Ups to go...Great Day!

We began this mess with E & tb vs. Drake & Diego vs. Val & Baby Tonn (we let V&BT take 50's).

Soon into the first 100 Thrusters, Diego had to run to the bathroom...PUKIE hit him... not to hard, but the conditioning was just getting to him...3 person team for him would have been better...
To be honest, it was much better for me as well... E was a monster in the Thrusters...getting 10 for every set of my 5... At 60 Thrusters (for E & tb) Drake joined us and made us a group of 3...
WHEW! That was much better...still tough but much more negotiable...
E was still the beast of the group... The ONLY exercise I felt that I was helping out in were the TTB's!
